Test Tagging Sydney

What Is Test Tagging?

It is a procedure that Caslec assesses the safety of electrical equipment at your premises. Without it, you, your colleagues & customers could be at risk. It involves inspecting electrical equipment, applying labelling & creating records to indicate that a professional appliance test has been performed.

When is Testing Required?

There are various times for testing and inspections for the different properties such as factories, workshops, hotels, motels, halls, boarding houses & so on and this needs to be organised for testing when they are actually required, which is quite important. The testing frequency for portable devices varies according to the nature of the workplace and the type of equipment.

The Tables available for these procedures are AS/NZS 3760 & AS/NZS 3012 & provides the details of compliance & required times.

Electrical inspection and testing

Certain types of electrical equipment must be regularly inspected and tested by a competent person to identify damage, wear and detect electrical faults.

If you are a business or employer (or other PCBU) you must make sure that electrical equipment is regularly inspected and tested by a competent person if the electrical equipment:

  • is supplied with electricity through an electrical socket outlet (‘plug in’ equipment), and
  • used in an environment in which its normal use exposes the equipment to operating conditions that are likely to result in damage to the equipment or a reduction in its expected life span, eg conditions such as exposure to moisture, heat, vibration, mechanical damage, corrosive chemicals or dust.
